Episode 01: Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra or Yogic Sleep is a practice that takes your body into a deep state of relaxation whilst your mind remains aware.
In this episode, we will focus on bringing awareness to all parts of the physical body and inviting them to relax, a practice known as systematic relaxation. Simply observe any new sensations with curiosity and let the beautiful Chandrika guide you into deep relaxation.
To prepare:
Choose a comfortable space where you feel safe to allow your body to drop into total relaxation.
Your body temperature may drop during the practice so a blanket, jumper, or warm socks are advisable.
Come to savasana; lie on your back with your palms up and your legs and arms slightly separate. Pillows or bolsters can be used under the knees to provide support for the lower back, a rolled blanket can also be used under the neck and ankles for further support.
Or you may be more comfortable lying on your side in the fetal position, particularly if you are pregnant. A pillow under the head and a pillow or bolster between the legs can be used for further comfort.
Observe which position feels most comfortable for you.
Take the time to adjust and sink into the pose. Feel the weight of your body being supported by the earth. Try to remain still throughout the practice, but if you feel any discomfort please change your position.
